This series, titled “The Weight of Beauty,” was showcased in Salve Regina University’s Dorrance Hamilton Gallery as part of the Senior Honors Thesis Show in April 2025.

This sculpture series challenges the way we see the female body in a gallery setting. Looking at the sculpted female body in art history, everytime we walk into a historical museum or gallery we are met with the same narrative of the overly sexualized woman from antiquity that is impossibly perfect, slender, and polished.

In response, I sculpted the female body in a raw and unfiltered way, putting these bodies in unflattering positions that emphasize their natural and real skin folds to highlight the unnatural beauty standards placed on women.
