This oil painting on ceramic depicts fragments of facial features to portray a broken portrait. Each fragment exemplifies the person’s most insecure feature to depict a universal feeling of insecurity while also examining how all our differences make up one beautiful portrait.

My process consists of building a clay slab and cutting it into a circle, familiar of a portrait. I then intentionally broke the surface into fragments and fired the clay pieces. Once a stable surface was reached, I primed and painted the surface of the ceramic fragments with oil paints.
